    Kom Ombo Temple

Kom Ombo Temple is an abbreviation for Kom Ombo.

Kom Ombo, together with Esna and Edfu, is the third main stop on the Nile cruise route between Luxor and Aswan, and here is where the majority of the cruise ships dock. It is also possible to visit Kom Ombo on a day trip from Aswan since it is just 30 miles north of the capital.

As a result of the location of this Temple of Sobek (the crocodile deity), a visit by water is the much preferable mode of transportation for seeing this monument. The temple is built on a magnificent bluff overlooking the river, and although there are no longer any crocodiles in the river or the holy lake inside the temple complex, there are still plenty of birds and other wildlife to see.

His shrine on the banks of the river is still well worth a visit.

Kom Ombo, like the other two monuments between Luxor and Aswan, dates back to the Ptolemaic Dynasty, and it was only during Roman administration that it was fully built. Dedicated to both Sobek and Horus, the temple is designed in a way that expresses this dual dedication.

The asymmetrical mirror itself along its main axis, with one half dedicated to each of the two gods it celebrates, the structure is an asymmetrical mirror of itself. A similar situation exists in Esna, with the pylon entry to the temples no longer standing, and the hypostyle hall serving as the primary attraction for tourists today. The Crocodile Museum, which has a collection of crocodile mummies on exhibit, is also located on the temple’s grounds.
