The Coptic Museum
The Coptic Museum is located in Cairo, Egypt.
The Coptic Museum, which is located next to the ruins of the Roman fort of Babylon, has a rare collection of art and relics from the history of Coptic Egypt, as well as an exhibit on the history of Christianity in Egypt, among other things.
The Coptic Orthodox Church is distinct from the Orthodox Churches of Greece and Turkey, as well as the Catholic Church in Rome, having broken away from the mainstream of Christianity at an early stage in its history because of a theological disagreement about the nature of Christ and the nature of the Holy Ghost.
Before the entrance of Islam in Egypt in the 7th century, Coptic Christianity had risen to become the main religion in Egypt when the country was under Roman administration. The Coptic Church has always been passionate about preserving Egypt’s distinctive Christian past, which has been passionately protected by the Egyptian people for centuries.
The museum exhibits the world’s biggest collection of Coptic artwork and cultural items, documenting a time of significant transformation in Egypt’s history as well as the history of the globe. It is through the interplay of various distinct cultures and religions that the history of Coptic Christianity is recorded, including the ancient gods of Egypt, the pagan faiths of Rome and Greece, early Christianity, and Islam.
You can see here that the fact that the ancient Egyptian ankh and the Christian cross are so similar in their core shape is no accident.
