The History of the City
Hurghada began to gain popularity as a tourist destination in the early 1980s as a result of the natural conditions, which included magnificent beaches, coral reefs, vibrantly colored fish, and plenty of sunlight. Hurghada is about 6 hours by car from Cairo and around 4.5 hours by car from Luxor, respectively. It is the most populous city on the Red Sea coast. In addition to its stunning sandy reef, the island is home to an abundance of corals as well as rare and unusual aquatic species. It is preferable to take a ferry boat or a flight from Hurghada to Sharm El Sheikh, St. Catherine monastery, and Moses Mountain than to go by road. The ferry boat or flight is more convenient since it is closer than using the road.
