Farafra Oasis’s location:

The oasis of Farafra is in the western desert, between the oasis of Dakhla and the oasis of Bahariya. It is in the governorate of the New Valley. It is known for being in a good place and having a unique geological structure. This 980-square-kilometer geological depression is 170 kilometers from the Bahaerys Oasis, 627 kilometers from Cairo, and 370 kilometers southeast of the Mediterranean Sea. It is also essential in Egypt (380 square miles).

The History of Farafra Oasis:

Many references to the oasis of Farafra can be found in Egyptian writings from the tenth dynasty, which began in the twenty-first century B.C. Since there are so many farms and animals in the area, the people who lived there gave the city of Farafra the name “I am Akhet,” which means “land of the cow.”
The Copts, whom the Romans were persecuting, moved to the oasis to get away from them. After the Arabs took over in 641 A.D., trade with the Nile helped the Farafra Oasis grow and become more prosperous. Among these goods were dates, olive oil, cotton, tea, and other drinks.

The Farafra Oasis Climate:

Between October and March, the average low temperature in Farafra is about to 86 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius), and the average high temperature is about 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius). With an average of 1 millimeter, September is the month that gets the most rain.
The average temperature is about 19 degrees Celsius. In this area, you can also find the beautiful EL-Mufid lake, Bir Sitta, and several other hot springs. More than 100 natural water wells are used for farming in the oasis of Farafra. Fifteen kilometers to the north of here is the large lake of Abu Nus.

Places to visit in Farafra oasis:

1- The white desert

The white desert of the Farafra Oasis is one of the best-known and most fascinating places in the western desert, and it is also one of the most visited places in the area. This park is only five kilometers north of the town of Qsar El Farafra. It is part of the Farafra Oasis in Egypt’s New Valley Governorate and covers about three thousand square kilometers of land. It’s just a strange group of rocks with some parts that look like mushrooms and animals.

2- The Black Desert and the Mountain of Crystal

The Oasis’s dark desert was shown on top of an orange-brown background. It was full of different-sized volcanic rocks and stones. Crystal Mountain is nearby. It looks like something from a fairy tale, but it is made of barite, a mineral much softer than crystals.

3- Hot springs

The Farafra Oasis has a lot of different underground water sources because it is in a good place and has many interesting geological features. Water for the farms in the oasis comes from more than a hundred wells spread out around Farafra in good spots.
In recent years, Bir Sitta, also called sound number 6, Bir Sab’a, also called sound number 7, and Bir 22, which is often thought to be the oasis’s most famous well, have all become popular tourist spots.

Since the water in the wells of Farafra is warm and contains only a small amount of sulfuric acid, they are great places to take a dip and relax. Fifteen kilometers north of the Farafra Oasis is a large lake called Abu Nus, which has the same name as the oasis.

4- Museum of Badr

Local artist Badr Abdel Moghny has a museum full of his work. People who go to the museum can look at the artist’s work. 5- Al-Jara Cave
