What is the location of the Aswan Botanical Garden?

Located on Kitchener’s Island, to the west of Elephantine Island, it is a popular tourist destination. Located in the Nile River, it is one of two islands directly next to the city center of Aswan in Egypt.

Aswan Botanical Garden has a long and illustrious history.

The Nubians utilized the Aswan Botanical Garden as a base of operations for their settlement, which they named Jet Narty. In the year 1899, Lord Horatio Kitchener purchased the island and renamed it the lord’s mansion to use as a resting spot for his campaign. Lord Kitchener was a British general who served as head of the Egyptian army. Kitchener had a profound enthusiasm for palm palms and plants, and he developed the whole island of Kitchener into a beautiful botanic garden as a result. Aswan Botanical Gardens was established when Egypt regained the island, which has since been preserved as a botanical garden.

The Aswan Botanical Island is organized into 27 squares, with vertical and horizontal roads cutting across each square, giving it the appearance of a chessboard from a distance. It is a fantastic experience to go around the island and see all it has to offer. After the Botanical Garden was transformed by the Ministry of Irrigation in 1928, it now has trees from all five continents. Throughout the island, you’ll discover a diverse collection of plants and trees, some of which were naturally occurring on the island before it was transformed into a Botanical Garden and others that have been imported from other continents. There are many unique palm trees on the island, including the Royal Palm tree, the Sabal Palm tree, and the Phonic Palm tree, all of which are found nowhere else in the world.
